Journal Entry 4

When someone do not use my name when talking to me or trying to get my attention that make me very upset, because I was given a name to be addressed by; therefore my name is not "hay", "girl", "you", etc... I have been taught that when talking with someone to show that they have your attention you should make eye contact with them so for that not to be done it makes me feel that they are not paying attention to me or anything I may be saying. It also shows that they are not interested in the conversation and it’s a sign of disrespect as well. Making eye contact shows maturity and respect and when I give that I expect the same to be given to me. My mother would always say look at me when I'm talking to you, and now I know what she was doing she wanted to make sure that I understood what she was saying to be and that I understood the seriousness of what she was saying. When someone gives me the cold shoulder or only greets me with complaints I feel that they think that I may not be worthy of their attention or any other good attention. I think that they may feel that I may want nothing but negative energy around me and possess a moral level that is unhealthy. I just think it’s all comes down to respect and having respect for others from greeting to giving your undivided attention when speaking or being spoke to.
