Journal Entry 2
The people that I would interact with frequenty would be my parents, students, friends, family, colleagues, mentors, neighbors, and staff. I think that through any of these channels I would be able to have open and effective communication, simply because they all will have either already had some type of experience with my facility and they would be very beneficial to helping to get the word out for possible future business.
The converstation that was stated in the text I felt was very detail and informative. I did not feel that there was any futher information that may have needed to to added to the converstation. The staff memeber had a plan of communication set and followed through, by making sure every detail was covered and the parent felt that the situation was under control. They also let the parent know that if at any point the situation may have been getting out of there control that they would have been contacted. At the end of the conversation the staff member did leave it open for questions or concerns. I felt that the plan was right on point.
I define my business just as the word business is defined. We will handle all issues in a business manner and all staff will conduct themselves as a business person should. The primary focus would be on the children at hand, to ensure that they are being caring for properly and in a manner that their parents will feel secure wuth leaving their child at the facility. I will have a staff that is approchable, provide a enviornment that is clean and full of love and fun.
I would have very affordable rates, because in this field your main focus can not be on the money. You have to really have a love for this to be successful. This career calls for those that is not trying to become rich, bust for those that is trying to protect and provide change for our children. You may have those single mothers that is tryng to work and provide a better life for their children and may not qualify for daycare assistance, so you dont want her children to miss out on their education because the rates are high and she cant afford it. So yes thoses are the people I will be seeking and be there for them to be able to afford care and give them hope to continue to work hard for their family.
Yes my facility would be academically oriented, because I believe that teaching is the tool that is need to direct our future. There is a learning process in just about every day life experiences, and I believe that not everyone will have a encounter with the same experiences, so if we use what is among us to teach our children how to cope with what they will experience in a every day task it will help them to get through what ever it may be because they will be familiar with it. So my job would be to get the children I have ready for the next step which would be pre-k and I will do all that I can to make sure they are prepared.
I will go by the licensing manual and handbook for my facility. I will offer a creative curriclum that will offer the child to explore and find their way around that may present a comfortable learning experience for them. I will also encourge family style dining, becuase I think that is a great learning experience for all children. I will house my facility with age appropriate child size materials, such as their toys, furniture, tables in dining area, and the restroom facilities.
I believe the strengths of my facility would be the creative curriculum that is offered to each child, simply because it will allow them to develop many skills, and it will show to their parents and vistors that might vsit the center. I also believe the open communication between the staff and parent is also another strength because it limits gaps, misunderstanding, or communication barriers.
I believe that my curriculum could always be improved simpley because of the constant change in child development. There is something new to learn always and its all a learning experience. As my staff, facility, and chidren grow so would my curriculm. You have never learned it all or learning too much becaus eof the constant change and growth process of children. So with that being said my curriculm could also use improvement to keep me up to date and current with what is going on, and to ensure that I will be able to aid to the whole child.

My name is Isces McClarty and I am currenlty a full time student at OSU-OKC. I was employed with Oklahoma Natural gas for 5yrs and I have now decided to continue my education, and follow my dream to one day own my own daycare facility. It has been my passion and desire for years to make a difference, and what better way to begin then to start with our future leaders of tomorrow. It is my goal to instill in them the importance of education and life. Education will determine your success.
